A Southwestern Americana acoustic/electric Sonoran Desert sound.
Trio Rio’s latest recording “Tequila Sunsets” is the second release by this Arizona based group. The band’s core features Ronnie Glover (guitar, vocals, harmonica), Don Paddock (bass, vocals) and Ron Rutowski (fiddle, vocals).
“Tequila Sunsets” features the band’s Southwestern Americana Acoustic sound and delivers it in varying doses of influence ranging from the playful day-off work song, "No Mas Trabajo" to the stark broad brush-stroke observations of mortality in "The Funeral".
From the simplistic transparency of Fred J. Eaglesmith’s "Rough Edges" to band member Ronnie Glover’s Irish-influenced jig "5 X 8 Trailer" the tracks offer up different sound palettes for the stories, smells and scenarios of Trio Rio’s southwestern desert roots.
In addition to Trio Rio this album includes contributions from noted musicians Billy Parker (mandolin - Lost Highway), Sean Paddock (drums - Kenny Chesney), Ken Skaggs (pedal steel/lap steel/dobro - Glen Campbell) and Nils Lofgren (guitar/accordion - Bruce Springsteen).
Also joining in are Bob Henke (backing vocals), John Good (Irish flute/whistle) and Producer Clarke Rigsby (baritone guitar/vocals).
